Judges 2012
 
A shortlist of finalists will be drawn up by the Film Northants panel of judges this summer. The four judges are all experts in film from different sectors of the industry. The judges will also select the Under 16s winner, Judges' Choice winner and Anniversary award winner.
 

 

Guest judge: Dean Twaites
 
 
 
 
 
Dean Twaites is no stranger to Film Northants having entered a film every year since the competition’s debut in 2008. Dean won awards in 2008, 2010 and 2011 with his films Confined, Barney and Smoking Kills. He has also won awards at several other festival across the UK. 
 
After graduating from The University of Northampton in 2010, Dean went on to set up his own media production company "TIMECODE PRO" with fellow student and friend Jimmy Bricknell.
 
Over the last two years, the pair have worked on hundreds of projects for local businesses, nationwide companies and global corporations including: New Look, BetFred, Nampak Plastics, Baxter Health Care, Northamptonshire County Council and MKFM.
 
Corporate videos aside, Dean has also directed a paranormal tv show, produced numerous live events and filmed music videos with up and coming stars such as CoConi, Ekklesia and Samantha Jenkins.

Becky Adams has line produced/production managed many projects over the last six years including features The Roundabout starring Spencer Brown, James Lance, Mark Benton and Ronni Ancona, and Elevator Gods featuring Ralph Brown, Oscar 2010 top-10-shortlisted Best Short Hotel starring Art Malik and Distilled Films’ Nice To Meet You with Trudie Styler.
 
Becky also unit managed on the features In Your Dreams and Rise Of The Footsoldier. Her CV also includes producing 35mm short The Caterpillar and Fly with young people and industry professionals in Northamptonshire in 2009, supported by Kodak and Movietech amongst others.
 
 Becky is currently developing two projects with her own company Reelscape Films: family comedy Fortune Cookies starring Elaine Tan, David Yip and Les Dennis, and One Life from director Dan Wilson.
 
 Becky is attached as line producer to a number of feature film projects intending to shoot in 2012 including horror Room 8 from director Richard Craske and producer Sheena MacBrayne.
 
Becky also runs the Northants Film Network in conjunction with Film Northants and composer Andy Cox.
 
Film critic: Bruce Green
 
 
 
 
Bruce Green was first introduced to journalism when he moved to Singapore in the 1970s and was employed by
The Strait's Times newspaper group, initially on BD&M (births deaths and marriages) before being promoted to the position of entertainments writer.
 
After three years in the Far East, Bruce came back to the UK and became the publisher of Ritz magazine based in London and headed the entertainment and what’s on section where he wrote film reviews and interviewed celebrities.
Bruce later moved to the USA and worked on commercial radio in Minneapolis, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles as an expert in stage and film.
 
On his return back to the UK Bruce was invited to do a regular film review slot on the Bernie Keith show on BBc Radio Northampton, where he continues working today.
 
Bruce still loves film passionately, watching at least four films a week at the cinema, both good and bad.
 
 
 
Video production lecturer: Tim Coley
 
 
 
 

Tim Coley started his career working as a runner for Soho based film company Original Film and Video Productions. Deciding London was not the place for him, Tim moved to the provinces where production costs were cheaper and he had the opportunity to get his "hands dirty".

 

Tim has always had an interest in music and video production and he recorded with Natasha Atlas from 1988 to 1991 in a band called Loca, releasing a number of singles and videos including Timbal which after receiving heavy rotation on MTV became hit in Europe.

 

Tim continued to direct and edit music videos for a variety of bands in the 1990’s including Spectrum’s 1992 hit How You Satisfy Me. Throughout the 1990s until the present Tim has been working as a freelance commercial video editor working on corporate, training, educational and documentary films.

 

Tim set up Lucid Video in 2003 to produce films on diverse subjects such as Drugs Bursting the Myth, a film about heroin abuse and Hands on History a film about the importance of maintaining historical connections.  

 

Tim is also a senior lecturer at The University of Northampton where he teaches video production.
