Winners 2010

The winning films of Film Northants 2010 were announced at a red carpet awards ceremony at Cineworld, Northampton on September 20th. Watch the award-winning films below and read the director's reactions to winning.

Winner: 1st Public Vote
Film: Love Is...
Director: David Easton
Prize: £500 Jessops gift card

Director's comments:

"Personally, this is my first accolade and I was thrilled. Hopefully it will be the first of many. The main thing is seeing your work on the big screen and see what the projector does to your work. To get that chance  is really great; its a rare opportunity. It was great to be able to mess around and let your hair down and play at being a director."

Winner: 2nd Public Vote and Judges' Choice
Film: Barney
Director: Dean Twaites
Prize: Cinema pass & £200 Jessops gift card

Director's comments:

"It seems like the organisation has got better and the standard of the films were even higher than previous years. The cinema was the place I would come as a kid and be inspired. To see your film at an event like this is a real privilege. Getting the judge’s vote is a great confidence boost because we know they are the ones who know what they’re talking about and their approval makes you feel you’re doing it right.

We know from being past winners how an award can make you feel you can branch out and take more risks, it's great to be recognised again."

Winner: 3rd Public Vote
Film: Fitzy Wrapper
Director: Kevin Stoney
Prize: Annual cinema pass

Director's comments:

"I was very surprised to be a finalist because the  standard of the others was so high. I would like to see Film Northants expand even more now  because film is such a great medium for people to express themselves. Judging by tonight we have a lot of talent in Northampton. I loved being able to watch people’s reactions and get that immediate feedback on what they thought. The standard of Film Northants is getting higher and higher and you can tell people are now really thinking about  what they are putting out there. I really loved the variety of the finalists. Everyone had something to say."
